"LOWER SLAUGHTER, a parish in the hundred of the same name, county Gloucester, 3 miles S.W. of Stow-on-the-Wold, its post town, and 6 N.E. of Northleach. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on a branch of the river Windrush, and is chiefly agricultural. The soil consists of stonebrash. The living is a curacy annexed to the rectory of Burton-on-the-Water, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol. The church is an ancient structure. General Sir George Whitmore is lord of the manor and principal landowner."

- Chadlington is in rolling countryside in north-west Oxfordshire on the edge of the Cotswolds. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Within the Chipping Norton Registration District, Oxfordshire England according to Google Maps 2009 - church name might be St Nicholas. It is just south of Chipping Norton, and north west of of Charlbury. Considered a hamlet of Charlbury along with Chilson, Churchill, Finstock and Fawler, Kingham, Pulicot, Shorthampton and Spelsbury (googled)
