RESEARCH NOTES
Sources vary on his death, his parentage, his wife etc.
- Was he the son of James Griniffe Orrick (1709) who would have been 46 at William’s birth? Other candidates includes a Benjamin and a John Orrick.
- He married before 1778 possibly in North Carolina but we are not sure of the name of his wife. Many researchers believe it is Sarah Comford/Comfort.
- Did he die between 1770 - 1804 Crawford Arkansas OR in 1840 Pike County Arkansas?
- Christened [or buried?] Vaught Cem, Mountainburg, Arkansas
- “We do not have the names of William and Sarah's daughters but we know from census records they had 2 daughters born before 1790 and 3 daughters born between 1790 and 1800” Another source says all the girls died as infants???
- “The Orrick's have been a tough line to research. No one has been able to produce documents to prove the ancestor's of William Orrick (or who his wife was), but recent DNA tests claim proof that the Orrick's of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas are descended from the Maryland Orrick's. The first record I can find for William Orrick is in Randolph County, NC. He is in Lincoln Co., TN by 1810 along with all of his son's except ... William. Then by 1829 he and his son, Samuel, are in Crawford County, Arkansas.”
