From a partial news clipping posted on findagrave:
“Mr. land Mrs. Daniel Blevins ... came to Arkansas from Kentucky. They first settled in Madison County, on the banks of White River. They lived there for some time. Later they moved to what some call the old Jarrell Place across from the Hazel Valley School. There he operated a mercantile store for some time. That was around the turn of the present century. While he lived in Madison County, he would ride to Sunset and many other places to preach for the Baptist people. He was a J.P. for amny years and performed many weddings. One he performed was for Miss Lizzie Skelton who wed Bill Fields. When he was over on the Middle Fork side he would stay many times with the Hight family who lived here at my home. Mr Blevins was also a Civil War veteran. It was 1861 when he entered the service as a chaplain and a Captain in Company B from Prestonberg Kentucky, 5th Kentucy Infantry, Floyd County. He once got disabled and captured and later he was back in action. He was for the southern army. Soon after 1865, when he was discharged from the army, he moved his family to Arkansas. He was elected four times as J.P. Mrs Nancy Osburn Blevins gave birth to 13 children and also helped raise Miss Bertha Blevins who later married Walter Pool from Thompson Switch. Miss Ellen Blevins married James Hight and she is buried in Hazel Valley Cemetery. Mr. Blevins preached louid and long, so I’m told. His way of travel was by foot or horse back. Mr. and Mrs. Blevins are the grandparents of Mrs. Ethel Hight who is 96 years old as of now. She lives in springdale, and is in the corner of this picture. Mrs. Hight was and still is very fond of her grandparents and had many nice thing to say about them. While her grandfather was leading the men in the Army, he was charged by three soldiers who were shooting at them. His men yelled out, “Get behind a tree.” Mr Blevins says that that wasn’t hard to do [end of clipping, not dated or sourced, no picture included]
They had the following children:
