- About 1882 - Following the death of her husband and at the age of 70, Agnes Jane migrated to Australia with the daughter (Ann Charlotte I think, but will check that). Her son, Arthur Compton Thomas, my great grandfather, was already in Victoria, but they disembarked in Sydney (New South Wales). Ann was going to New Zealand to marry her fiancé, so presume Agnes went there with her rather than join her son and family.
