State of Arkansas, Washington County archives marriage certificate: George Washington Long 25 years old of Health, Madison County married Miss Betty Winkle 19 years old of Hazel Valley, Washington County on September 30, 1899.
The obituary for George Long has the marriage date for him and Betty as 1896 but it should have been 1899.
Prior to George Long marrying Betty Winkle he was married to Cyntha Lemaster of Hazel Valley, they were married on March 27,1896 as documented at the Washington County archives Dept. They had one daughter Bessie. Per Geraldine Coleman, year not known but Cyntha died after giving birth to there daughter Bessie Long. Baby Bessie died approximately two days later.
Cyntha and Bessie both buried at the Sunset Cemetery. It is said that George Long carved the names and designs on both of there headstones.

George W Long, 84, Fayetteville residend, died yesterday morning at a Little Rock hospital. Born July 4 1874 in Hazel Valley, he married Miss Betty Winkle of Hazel Valley in 1896 [1899]. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the WInslow Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Winkle Long, of the home; five sons, Clem of Baldwin, Lem of Elkins, Leonard of Fayetteville, Woodrow of Hazel Valley, and Gene of Mountain View, Calif; six daughters, Mrs Pearl Harris and Mrs Grace Cornett of Fayetteville, Mrs. Lona Warford and Mrs Zona Warford of Elkins, Mrs Doli Warren of Mountainburg, and Mrs Oma Hattiebaugh of Orando, Wash; 47 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and a brother Ike Long of Prairie Grove.
Funeral service wil be conducted dat 2 pm Wednesday at the White House Church near Sulpur Ciity by the Rev Basil Ledford. Burial, under the direction of Nelson’s Funeral Home, will be in the White House Cemetery.

Obituary: “Mrs Betty E W Long
Mrs Betty Elizabeth Winkle Long, 81, resident of 510 W Mountain St, died at her home this morning after an extended illness. She had resided in Fayettevile for the past 12 years moving here from Hazel Valley where she was born the daughter of Jack and Phebe Winkle. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are five sons, Clem Long, Baldwin, Lem Long, Elkins, Leonard and Woodrow Long, Fayetteville, and Gene Long, Mt View Calif.;
six daughters, Mrs Pearl Harris, St Loiuis MO, Mrs Grace Cornette, Fayeetevile, Mrs Doll Warren, Mountainburg, Mrs Lona Warford, Elkins, Mrs Zona Warford Brewster Wash., and Mrs Oma Hattabaugh, Hazel Valley;
two brothers, Harrison Winkle, Fayetteville, and Fred Winkle, Tusla Okla.;
51 grandchildren, and 56 great grandchildren.
Funderal services will be conducted at 2 pm, Monday at White House Community Building on Middle Fork by the Rev Basil Ledford. Burial will be in White House cemetery uner the direction of Nelson’s Funeral Home.”
