- 1615/6 Hawkhurst parish register entries confirm that Thomas was buried on 8 March 1615/6, and his first wife Catherine was buried on 16 May 1576.
Transcriptions from image:
"[1615/6] March Buryed the viijth day [8th] day Thomas? Borrman?" ALSO
"March - buried the viiith [ie 8th] day Thomas Bourman".  This is under the heading A.D. 1615, and being at the end of the year indeed represents what we would call 1615/6.  It is definitely March rather than February, since it is in chronological order.

[NOTE: 3 different Thomas Boorman's were buried in Cranbrook (not Hawkhurst) on 16 Oct 1581, 22 Sep 1584 and 7 Feb 1617/18 (a child). This has caused much confusion and debate.]

- 1615/16 will of Thomas Boorman the elder of Hawkhurst dated 27 Feb 1615-16 and proved 20 Apr 1616. Will transcribed.

- 1616 Probate 20 April 1616 • Hawkhurst, Kent, England
"Thomas Boorman the elder, late of Hawkhurst" (PRC/17/58/53)

From other researchers:
- 1570/71 Thomas listed in father John Borman's will
My wife Joan [executrix] to pay my sons Thos., Henry, & Wm. what she can when she can.

- Thomas and Catherine had four children (that were alive in 1592). ... Historical evidence of the births of all four children comes from the 1592 will of Catherine's brother, Alexander Peende (see Notes for Thomas' son, John Boorman). [Outdated information: Edward (baptized 28 September 1567), Elizabeth, Annes, and John (born about 1578). So far, only Edward's baptism has been found in Cranbrook parish records.]

NOTE: Subsequent research list 5 children by Thomas's first marriage, and

- No record has yet been found that identifies the occupation of Thomas.

On 28 Apr 1567 when Thomas was 25, he married Catharine PEENDE, daughter of Alexander PEENDE & Elizabeth, in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Born abt 1545 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Catharine died in Hawkhurst, Kent, England, in May 1976; she was 31. Buried on 16 May 1576 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England.

From other researchers:
- Catherine Peende was born about 1545 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.
- Mother of Edmond, John, Elizabeth and Annes Boorman.

- 1576 Hawkhurst Kent register entries confirm that Thomas was buried on 8 March 1615/6, and his first wife Catherine was buried on 16 May 1576.
Transcriptions for image:
1576 Maie [May] Buried the xvith [16th] Catherin the wife off Thomas? Burmby. ALSO
"Maie - buried the xvith [ie 16th] Catherin the wife of Thomas Burman".  The year heading is 1576.
Looking at the transcripts, Tyler [index] employs the ellipsis [....] to represent a blank, just as there is in the original, where the son of Thomas Burman whose burial is recorded is not actually named.  "2818" is actually a self-correction ie the 28 is crossed out and replaced by 18 (which, viewing the original, is correct).
The month, which he has omitted, is September.  Additionally, I think he uses "Kath" as a standard abbreviation - for what it is worth, the original entry is definitely spelled with a C - we can see the same letter used lower down in the page for Cornelius.

NOTE: conflicting evidence from the Tyler index:
1576 May 21 Boreman, Kath d[?] wife of Thos bur.
1576 — 2812 Boreman ……. Thos bur

- 1592: Listed as Catherine (or Catharina) Peende Boorman in her brother Alexander's will, but her name is apparently spelled with a "K" in the Cranbrook parish registers and/or Archdeacon's transcripts of the same.
- 1592 In Alexander Peende's 1592 will, his sister Katheryn doesn't inherit directly, but her children do: to the four children of my sister Katheryn Booreman, viz Edmunde [sic] Booreman, John Booreman, Elizabeth Booreman and Aynes Booreman, 40 shillings a piece
Also: The actual will further confirms your analysis that Catherine (Katheryn) Peende Boorman, first wife of Thomas Boorman (1616 will), was buried 16 May 1576 in Hawkhurst, not 4 March 1595/6 in Cranbrook.  If she were still alive in 1592, her brother Alexander almost assuredly would have left her some money in his will, as he did to his other sisters Elizabeth, Margery, Judith and Margaret.
Also: if Catherine had been living in 1592, she would have been left money by her brother Alexander.

They had the following children:
17iii.
Annes BOURMAN (1568/69-1620/21)
18iv.
John BOORMAN (~1573-aft 1611)
Alexander BOORMAN (1576-1576)

Thomas Boorman married a second time to Rebecca Pope on 15 Oct 1576 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England. They had 4 children:

Catherine (1578- ), William (c1582- ), Thomas (1584- ), Andrew (1586- ).

4. Henry “Harry” BOORMAN (John1). Born abt 1543 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Henry “Harry” died in Hawkhurst, Kent, England, in 1610; he was 67. Buried on 4 Apr 1610 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England.

From other researchers
- Henry Boorman was born about 1543 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. He was buried on 4 Apr 1610 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England.
On 10 Nov 1567 when Henry “Harry” was 24, he married Margaret MELLAR in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Born in 1546 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.
They had the following children:
19i.
John BOORMAN (1568-)
20ii.
21iii.
Sara BOORMAN (1572-)
22iv.
23v.
24vi.
Avis BOORMAN (1582-)
5. John BOORMAN (John1). Born abt 1546 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. John died in Cranbrook, Kent, England, abt Feb 1629/30; he was 84. Buried on 1 Mar 1630 in St Dunstans Churchyard, Cranbrook, Kent, England. Occupation: Broadweaver.

- 1592 he was living in a house that his wife’s brother Alexander Peende leased from Mr Baker Esq. Alexander willed him the tenure for the duration of the lease, for a payment of £4 6s 8d per year. His 6 children were willed 40s each by their uncle Alexander Peende.

- 1607-12 probably living in Harley. Rated 2s 4d a year.

- 1624 broadweaver. In his will he left 5s to his son Alexander, a cow, a heifer and some money to his son William, a bedstead and flock bed & bedding to son Edward, a cauldron, iron pot, drinking vessel, a tun and a feather pillow to daughter Elizabeth, a cupboard and a lamb each to his grandsons William & Richard Appse. Daughter Judith to dwell in the house where he now lives for the term of the lease, and also to have all corn, butter, cheese, bacon, wood & fire fuel and anything else in the house. He made his son Edward executor and left him the residue.

- 1624: [another researcher has] an enlarged photo copy of "our" John's original will (15 Mar 1624/5; pr. 9 Apr 1630), and an abstract of his will (from a book of abstracts of Cranbrook wills, 1396-1640, by Jules De Launay).  … translation of John's original will in regard to naming of the "overseer" is confirmed by the will abstract as "my brother Richard Turke."

- 1629 [1624?] John Boorman (with Judith) will 1629. PRC 32/49/308. Film 188860. From the bottom of the page:
“I desire my brother Richard Tucke (looks like Curke) [saye Turke] to be my overseer to this last will for to guide and assiste my executor in the executing of my true meanings herin having herunto put my hand.” … It was John’s sister “Sarah Boureman, 1550 Hawkhurst who married William Bachelor 29 Jan 1574 Cranbrook. When William Bachelor died she married Richard Turke on 19 Apr 1598 in Cranbrook. Turke/Tuck/Tooke are variations of the same name.” Therefore, this seems to connect this John to a sister Sarah in Hawkhurst.
- A Sarah Booreman (Boarman) married William Bachelor (Bacheler) in Cranbrook on 29 January 1574 (Cranbrook parish register, film 2228373; Archdeacon's transcript, film 1751814).  Sara Bachelor (Bacheler) married Richard (Rycharde) Turke in Cranbrook on 19 April 1598 (Cranbrook parish register, film 2228373; Archdeacon's transcript, film 1751814). … We know John(of Hawkhurst) had a daughter Sarah.  There is only one Sarah Boorman and one Sarah Bachelor in that time frame that show up in searches on FamilySearch and Ancestry.

RESEARCH NOTES
- 6 children listed: Alexander, William (married Margaret Danes), John, Edward, Elizabeth, Judith (married an Appse).

- an abstract of his will was pulished in a book by Jules de Launey “Abstracts of Cranbrook Wills proved in the Diocesan Courts of Canterbury”

- from http://genforum.genealogy.com/boorman/messages/26.html says:
“Way back in the early 16th century there was a Boorman family in Cranbrook and a family called Peende. Variant spellings include Peen, Peene, Peend, Pynde and Pyndel. 3 Boorman brothers and their sister married 3 Peende sisters and their brother. My ancestor John Boorman was a broadweaver cir 1546-1618. He was married to Judith Peende, daughter of Alexander Peende. john Boorman's son was Alexander Boorman b.1576 who married Mary Dennet. They had a son William Boorman b.1605 who married Rebecca Waterman on 16.11.1624. Their son was Robert Boorman b.1627 who married Susan. Their son William Boorman b.1647 married Mary Matthews on 4.2.1668. They had a daughter Mary Boorman b.1669 in Cranbrook, and this is the end of my Boorman line. Mary married Thomas Jenner on 27.7.1693.” Posted July 6, 2006 by Paul Phillips

- Suggestions for father to John Boorman is Wm Bourine (Branbrook - mentioned in Baker Will) OR Fred Bourman? (McGinnis tree) - Fred Boorman b 1520 Kent married Helen Kathleen Also John and Joan of Hawkhurst.
On 11 Jun 1571 when John was 25, he married Judith PEENDE, daughter of Alexander PEENDE & Elizabeth, in St Dunstans, Cranbrook, Kent, England. Born abt 1548 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Judith died in Cranbrook, Kent, England, in Nov 1613; she was 65. Buried on 4 Nov 1613 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.

From other researchers:
- Judith Peende was born about 1548 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. She died in Nov 1613 at the age of 65 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. She was buried on 4 Nov 1613 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.
- apparently still alive in 1612, Probably buried 4 Nov 1613 at Cranbrook.
- according to the will of Judith Peende's great grandfather, Richard Peende, Richard was most likely buried inside St. Dunstan's in 1509, somewhere by an altar of St. Giles ("Seynt Gilys" in old English).  The will of Richard Peende (spelled Pende) was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (in London) on 14 May 1509.
They had the following children:
25i.
26ii.
Judith BOORMAN (~1575-1653)
27iii.
Elizabeth BOORMAN (1578-1646)
28iv.

Marriage Date: 19 Apr 1598
Marriage Place: Cranbrook, Kent, England

FHL Film Number: 2228373 / 1751814 Item 1

From other researchers:
- Sarah Boorman was born about 1550 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. She died in Apr 1618 at the age of 68 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. She was buried on 8 Apr 1618 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.
- from Cranbrook parish registers ... the daughter Sarah of John Boorman of Hawkhurst married one William Bachelor in Cranbrook on 29 January 1574/5. After William Bachelor's subsequent death, Sarah Boorman Bachelor then married one Richard Turke in Cranbrook on 19 April 1598.
- In the 1624 will of John Boorman of Cranbrook, John named "my brother Richard Turke" as the overseer. "Brother" was commonly used to include "brother-in- law" in 17th century England. The Sarah Boorman (Bachelor) Turke who was the wife of Richard Turke was therefore John's sister. It follows that Sarah and John (and their five other siblings) had the same parents, John Boorman of Hawkhurst and his wife Joan.

RESEARCH NOTES

- another marriage for 30 Aug 1589 at All Saints Maidstone. Anne BOORMAN married John PIEND
- another Anne Booreman married Thomas Talherst (Tallhurst) in Cranbrook on 18 December 1598.  I think this marriage is too late in time to be the Ann Boorman, daughter of John(H).  The marriage of an Anne Boorman to a John Piend in Maidstone in 1589 is interesting.  A Boorman and Peende apparently hook up again!  I have no idea from which families they might come.

On 11 May 1577 when Ann was 24, she married William CRADDOCK in Cranbrook, Kent, England. Born in 1550 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England. William died in Goudhurst, Kent, England, in 1598; he was 48. Buried on 20 Jul 1598 in Goudhurst, Kent, England.
