- John Boorman was born about 1578 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. John Boorman was born about 1578 in Cranbrook, Kent, England to parents Thomas Boorman and Catherine Peende. For some unknown reason, no birth/baptism records for him appear in the Cranbrook parish registers. The historical evidence of his birth comes from the will of Catherine Peende's brother, Alexander Peende. In his 1592 will, Alexander left 40 shillings each to the four children of his sister Catherine Peende Boorman. The children were identified by name as males Edward and John, and females Elizabeth and Annes. John's year of birth of "about 1578" has been deduced from the marriage year of his parents (1567), the order of all the children named in Alexander's will (males first--oldest to youngest; then females, oldest to youngest), his wife Catherine Wood's baptism date in Hawkhurst of 12 January 1577/8, and the marriage date of John and Catherine on 12 June 1603 in Udimore, Sussex, England (see Notes for John's son William regarding why both father John and son William got married in Udimore).
- Sometime before his marriage in 1603, John moved from Cranbrook to Hawkhurst. This is known from his marriage record in the Udimore parish register that identified both him and his wife Catherine Wood as being from Hawkhurst. John and Catherine had at least four children that have been identified in Hawkhurst parish records. Catherine Wood and John Boorman were married on 12 Jun 1603 in Udimore, Sussex, England.
- Death/burial records of John and his wife Catherine have not yet been located.
