HUNT
My gggrandfather was John C. Hunt, b. Miller, MO, 1849; m. Mary Jane Blackburn of Springdale, MO. One of his sons was Clarence Edgar, b. Miller, MO, 1885. I would dearly appreciate any records, info, etc on these people. Especially information on John's father, Daniel & wife, Mary Woodson, who migrated to MO from TN around 1840, d. MO 1905. [P.S. This family seems to be from the Round Grove area. In fact, it is told that my ggrandfather contributed the land on which the church was built and that he was the first one buried there. It is also said that his father, Daniel, was one of the first settlers in the area. Can these reports be documented? Also any info on William Blackburn, d. MO @1878; wife, Sabra Watson. I am at a dead-end. Edgar Lewis Hunt, 10/97
On 22 May 1870 when John C was 21, he married Mary Jane BLACKBURN , daughter of William S BLACKBURN & Sabra Angeline WATSON, in Miller, Lawrence County, Missouri, USA. Born on 10 Dec 1853 in Springdale, Benton, Arkansas, USA. Mary Jane died in Olathe, Montrose, CO,USA, on 30 Dec 1943; she was 90. Buried in 1943 in Olathe Cemetery, Olathe, Montrose, Colorado, USA.

From another researcher:
- K. Marion Dee, 1867-1950, married Viola Cagle.
- Marion Dee Hunt (Nephew of Lewis Hunt and father of Reva (Hunt) West, Miller, Missouri.

From a descendant:
- “My grandfather, Marion Dee Hunt and first wife, Nellie, were in Beaver Co., OK, early 1900s, when your ancestor, Joseph Alex 'Alec' Hunt was there and from what I have seen Alec and Grandpa Dee evidently worked together on the building of a church there. Nellie died there in 1904 and the body was returned to the Hunt family cemetery in Round Grove, MO. Grandpa ended up later returning permanently to Missouri and married my grandmother in 1910.”

- “Grandpa Marion Dee Hunt was born in 1867 and he already had nieces and nephews who were almost as old as he was.  He wes the youngest surviving child of Daniel and Mary Woodson Hunt and they were in their mid-forties when he was born.  Grandpa Dee married Nellie Allen in 1889 and they left sometime after 1900 for homesteading in Beaver Co., OK.  Nellie died in childbirth in 1904 and the baby also died, boy, I think.  I don't know if she had ever been pregnant before.  After Grandpa buried her in the Round Grove Cemetery in Lawrence Co., MO he returned to OK and finished his homesteading commitment in 1907.  We have a copy of his homesteading record.  He said that he was very lonely and returned after that to Lawrence Co.  In 1910 he married my grandmother, Viola Cagle Hunt.  My mom was born in 1913 and her brother, Leon, in 1917, both when Grandpa was in his mid 40's.” ...

- “Alec Hunt [was] the cousin [of] Grandpa [Marion Dee] Hunt [who he] seemed to have been the closest to especially since they were in Oklahoma together.  Although in doing some research on family I see that several from the Round Grove area [Missouri] were in Beaver Co., OK in the early 1900's including 3 siblings of Grandpa's first wife, Nellie Allen Hunt.”

- “Grandpa Dee was born in 1867, the last surviving baby of Daniel and Mary Woodson Hunt who were in their mid-forties at the time.  Grandpa had many nieces and nephews who were almost as old as he was.  His first wife, Nellie Allen, died in childbirth in 1904 in Beaver Co., as far as we know her first pregnancy after 13 years of marriage.  The baby died also and evidently was buried in Beaver Co.  Grandpa took Nellie's body back to the Round Grove Cem. and he returned alone to Beaver Co.  He finished the time requirement for his land there but after that returned to Lawrence Co.  He married my grandmother, Viola Cagle, in Dec. 1910 and my mom, Reva Hunt West, was born in 1913.  Grandpa was then in his mid-forties.  Dale says that our line skipped a generation.”

- “Grandpa and Nellie had a sod house according to what Grandpa had told Mother.  In looking through old newspaper microfilm I knew that Grandpa was back in Lawrence Co. at least some before his homestead requirements were completed in 1909 so perhaps he had to return some back to Beaver Co. to do it?  He had said that after Nellie died in 1904 he was very lonesome in OK.  He married my grandmother, Viola Cagle, in Dec. 1910, He was in his 40's and Grandma was a maiden lady in her 30's.  Mother Reva Hunt West was born in 1913.”
In 1889 when Marion Dee “M D” was 21, he first married Nellie Juliet ALLEN , daughter of William H ALLEN & Mary O TAYLOR. Born on 15 Jun 1872 in Illinois, USA. Nellie Juliet died in Beaver County, Oklahoma, USA, on 27 Jun 1904; she was 32. Buried in 1904 in Round Grove Cemetery, Round Grove, Lawrence, Missouri, USA.
