RESEARCH NOTES:
- 1901 census: Not found.
- (from another Andrew/Compton researcher): “I do not believe that a Mary Elizabeth Andrew [born 1877, daughter of John and Mary (McLeod) Andrew] could have married Angus McKinnon because Empress McKinnon was born in 1874. My mother mentioned Empress Howatt (her married name) on several occasions but she couldn't pin point the exact nature of the relationship....just that they might be second cousins. I think Empress and her husband, Major Howatt, were in the boarding house business, either in Summerside or Charlottetown. That's my vague recollection. Here's my guess where Angus McKinnon fits into the picture: John Andrew had a sister by the name of Elizabeth Andrew, born in 1850. Could it be that Elizabeth Andrew married Angus McKinnon and had a daughter by the name of Empress? In this regard, I would think that St. John's Anglican Church in St. Eleanors might have some baptismal, marriage records that can provide the certain answer.” [Found Angus and Elizabeth McKinnon in 1911 census; Elizabeth born 1850... new link to be validated further.]
