mother was the daughter of Thos. Compton Esqr, was born at Foschiten Hants in 1763. The Comptons were of the first Branch of the Comptons of Wiltshire Landowners there befre the Conquest.
The Cabinet was left to Sophia daughter of Charles Wesscott wife of James Appleford of Ringwood, then to his daughter Annie wife of E P S Jones. [end of image 2]”

Inlaid are ivory tulips and mother of pearl shapes that would have reflected the candle light nicely. The deep top draw was for large plumed hats. The botton doors open to reveal shallow drawers for valuable linens, tapestries etc. Even in current condition, worth £3000-£4000 as of 2012]
