“Of John Ferdinand Faithfull, he joined the Police in Nairobi and met Granny out there, he then was transfered to Nigeria which was not a place for families to go, so they came back to England. i think there might be other reasons, such as the plague of locusts in the book 'Out of Africa' which was at about the right time. the Athertons had a farm near Nakuru, north west from Nairobi. when JF Faithfull retired he was Assistant Commisioner for West Africa, based in Nigeria.”
