- Born in Boston, later in life he moved to MN, where his aunt lived, then he moved to northern MN, where he worked a various jobs (farmer, lumber-jack, RR), he became Superintendent of RR. He then moved to International Falls. There he worked in administration of the local paper company. He homesteaded at Steamboat Lake.

Ralph William married Anna HUMMITSCH. Born on 8 May 1891.

Fred is believed to be in the newspaper business before he retired.
Fred Compton first married Miriam PALMER. Born on 4 Dec 1916. Miriam died in 1940; she was 23.
Fred Compton second married Agnes JONES.
Agnes Jones was previously married and divorced with two children, who were legally adopted in 1947 by Fred Compton Croucher. They moved to California.
They had the following children:

Helen Louise CROUCHER (Caroline Ellen “Carrie” COMPTON11, Edmund Ernest10, Thomas Compton9, Harry Childeroy8, Thomas7, Ann6, John5, John4, Tristram3, John “the Elder”2, Edward1).
Born on 12 Apr 1894. Helen Louise died on 8 Aug 1984; she was 90.
Helen was a nurse in WWI.
They lived in California.
Helen Louise married Al CAPP. Al died in 1961.
