- 1930 obit “-DEATH OF PROMINENT RESIDENT of ST ELEANORS - There passed away in St. Eleanors on Monday night Mr. Thomas Charles Compton, a well known resident of North St Eleanors at the age of 78 years after a long illness. Mr Compton was born in St Eleanors and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Compton and lived all his life in North St. Eleanors and farmed very successfully on a farm near the old homestead. He was a man of amny sterling qualities and in his younger days took an active part in all matters pertaining to the betterment of the community in which he lived. He had many staunch friends who are deeply grieved at his death. There are left to mourn besides his sorrowing widow, three sons and two daughters namely: Mrs. James Montgomery of Malpeque; Mrs. Lloyd Small of St Eleanors; Elmer in Coston, Alta., Lowell of Summerside and Reginald at home; also one sister, Mrs. Cunard in the United States and two brothers, Alfred in St Eleanors and Ernest in North St. Eleanors, to all of whom the Guardian /extends its sincere sympathy. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from his late residence to St Johns Church and Cemetery. Ven Archdeacon White officiated and was very largely attended. - S.”

Mr. Ernest Compton Friends and relatives heard with surprise and regret the passing Sunday morning at [9?] o'clock of Mr. Ernest Compton at the age of 86 years. He was a life long resident of St. Eleanors, where last September he celebrated his Golden Wedding Anniversary. Though never of robust health, still he was always up and about his home until about a week before his death when even with the best of medical attention and loving care he gradually became weaker, until the end came on the above date.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, the former Gertrude Mills of St. Eleanors; also two sons and two daughters, namely: Halden and Creelman of St. Eleanors; (Marie) Mrs. Bert Brown of Sherbrooke, P.E.I., and (Jean), Mrs. Paul Kristiansen of St. Eleanors; also 11 grandchildren.
The funeral which was largely attended took place Tuesday, May 13th, from his home to St. John's Church, St. Eleanors. The Rev. G. R. Harrison officiated at the house and grave. The hymns sung were "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Breathe On Me Breath of God". The pallbearers were Ralph Compton, Fred Mills, Horace Mills, Kenneth Mills, Nelson Compton and Earl Cannon. He was the last of the family of ten of the late Edmund Compton and his wife Mary Jane (Tanton) Compton.

Lots of confusion because there were several Lisle Comptons over several generations, including 2 Janet Lisle Comptons (one born 1862, the daughter of Edmund Compton and Isabel Mary JaneTanton, who married Thomas Atkins, and the other born 1883 Cambridge Mass, the daughter of Alfred James Compton and Mary Jane Rogers, who married Henry Elliot). Much closer in age, there was a Lisle Compton Craswell baptised 21 Dec 1864 (first cousin to the Janet Lisle Compton born 1862 - their mothers were sisters):
- baptised as Janet Lisle Compton; name possibly Alice Lisle D. Compton?; two Lisles?
- Lisle named in father’s [Edmund’s] will, so this couldn’t be person who died 1880. Also 1881 census lists Lisle living in Edmund’s household, age 17.
- A[nother] Lisle Compton married [should read “was”] a Craswell. [This one died of consumption, age 18]. Obit says she was niece of Edmund Compton [Edmund’s wife was a Tanton, and Arthur Craswell’s wife was a Tanton (sister)]?!?
- There was a Lisle Compton who died 03-May-1880, of consumption, in Atchinson, KS, but this can not be the same person as she is listed as the niece of Edmond Compton. As well, the 1881 Census lists Lisle living with her father, Edmond's household, age 17. Lisle perhaps, married to Thomas Atkins, There was also a Lisle Compton married to a Craswell.
