- 2012 April - Austin was finally given an accurate diagnosis this week, and I'm afraid it wasn't a good one--he has cancer of the intestine and it has very likely spread to the liver. He feels he has already been given an extention of 30 years as he had throat cancer which was cured.
- 2012: My brother Austin also died Oct. 23, after many months of illness with cancer. He had his family looking after him and he was very pleased about that. He had an amazing sense of humor that he carried with him right to the end--even thru the morphine. We had a wonderful get together after his funeral. Marion's son Michael was there, as they had been good friends for many years.[as well as being first cousins]

Austin Creswell 78, passed away at his home peacefully in his sleep, on October 23, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
Austin was born February 6th, 1935 in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, the third of four children of Fred and Cora Creswell. He spent his early years on the farm milking cows and working at the chicken hatchery.
He learned to fish and hunt at an early age. At the age of 9 he lost his older brother George in WWII. He met and married Florence Fudikoff in 1956 and they had three children; Rod, Coranne and Fred.
He spent his working years at a variety of careers, including owning a GM dealership, two gas stations, a motor home dealership, a successful carpet cleaning business, a landlord and finally as a prison guard at Wilkinson Road in Victoria.
He was an artist, a poet, a photographer and an adventurer who loved to pack and go, preferably on a motorcycle. But the best thing about Austin was his sense of humour. He loved to laugh and he saw the lighter side of all events.
He was predeceased by his parents, his older brother, George and his older sister, Marilyn. He leaves behind an extended family including his sister, Maidra, his sons; Rod (Sue) and Fred, his daughter Coranne; his five grandchildren; Desiree, Jacqui, Kelsey, Anastasia and Sam; and two great grandchildren; Ari and Elizabeth. He also leaves behind a huge circle of close friends who will miss him greatly.
There will be a service at the Gateway Community Church in Port Alberni, on November 1st at 1pm.
