Irish records found by another researcher: - 1816 Irish records: From ‘Protestant Inhabitants of the Union of Mothel and parish of Dysert, A. D. 1816’” William and Elizabeth KIERFOOT & their children Anne, Thomas, Samuel and Eliza [son George was already married] George and Deborah KIERFOOT & son William
- 1817 Irish records: From ‘Return of Protestant Families preparing to emigrate from the Counties of Carlow and Wexford in the ensuing Spring, dated at Ross in November 1817’: This was a list of 4,087 people including “George KERFOOD, farmer and mechanic, 3 in family” and, a page or so later, “Wm KERFOOT, 5 in family”, a good match for our George and William. William’s wife and other in-laws were from just across the Coolcullen River in County Carlow. This is reasonably consistent with the family tradition that the ‘Kerfoot party’ reached the Ottawa Valley in 1819.

- From a different researcher: 4. WILLIAM3 KERFOOT (GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 12 May 1776 in County Kilkenny, Ireland, and died 28 January 1862 in Prospect, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. He married ELIZABETH BRADLEY WILSON in Ireland. She was born 1765 in Ireland, and died 3 September 1858 in Prospect, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Notes for WILLIAM KERFOOT: He came to Canada in 1819 with his family and landed at Nepeans point. He was a stone mason and build the Methodist church (now United) as well as Samuel's and George's house. All three are still in use. He was granted the West one-half of lot 25 (100 acres) Concession 4 in Beckwith County to which he obtained title in July 24, 1822. He donated a corner of this land for a church known as Prospect Church. It was built in 1836. On its 100th anniversary the entire musical program was performed by four great grandsons of William Kerfoot. As late as 1951 the house built on this land was still standing and in good repair. In Ireland he had married Elizabeth Bradley, Wilson, a widow. Family tradition has it that there were eleven members of the family when they immigrated. Burial: Prospect Cemetery

- A public tree on ancestry.ca includes photos of gravestones for William and Ellizabeth “Kerfut”, a sign for the Prospect Unitied Church, and a photo of an old stone church (likely the Methodist Stone Church at Prospect origin). Also links to 1851 and 1861 Canada census - Lanark Ontario (can’t access). Passenger and Immigration Lists Index 1500s-1900s shows Wm Kerfoot with family of 4, 1817-1818, Canada; source Bibliography:TUFTS, BILL. Emigration: Part 2, Carlow and Wexford Emigration, 1817/8. - A descendant reports: William Kerfoot built a brick church in Prospect Ontario. [Prospect is just north of the the north boundry of Montague Township, both SW of Ottawa, and Goulbourn. Merrickville and Smith Falls are further south on the south borders of Montague Twp.]
William married Elizabeth Bradley WILSON in Ireland. Born in 1765 in Ireland. Elizabeth Bradley died in Prospect, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada, on 3 Sep 1858; she was 93. Buried abt 1858 in Prospect Cemetery, Lanark, Ontario, Canada.
- From another researcher about ELIZABETH BRADLEY WILSON: Elizabeth was married before she married William. Her first husband's surname was Wilson. She had two sons by that frst marriage. It appears that she may have been joined by one of her sons from her first marriage. We are indebted to Rory Griffith who referred us to a reference in a book, called "Wexford History and Society" Editor Kevin Whelan. It is a collection of articles. This reference is from "Emmigration from South Leinster to Eastern Upper Canada". On page 435 he writes: "George Wilson of Bilboa, county Carlow wished to join his stepfather, William Kerfoot, his four brothers, and his mother in Beckwith". The reference is to request made to the Colonial Office in the early 1820's Burial: Prospect Cemetery, Ontario

Ann married George WILLOUGHBY in Ireland. Born ca 1780. Buried in Prospect Cemetery, Lanark, Ontario, Canada.
6.Thomas KERFOOT (George2, Thomas1). Born in 1809 in Ireland.
- 6. THOMAS3 KERFOOT (GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 1809. He married ANN ?. Children of THOMAS KERFOOT and ANN ? are: i. ANN4 KERFOOT. ii. WILLIAM KERFOOT.
RESEARCH NOTES - if this Thomas was really born in 1809, was he really the son of George Kerfoot and Eleanor? - George would have been in his 60s and Eleanor????? As George’s son William was born in 1776, it looks like there is a generation gap here.
From another researcher: - 7. MARY3 KERFOOT (GEORGE2, THOMAS1) She married JOHN GRIFFITH. Notes for MARY KERFOOT: This couple appears in an 1816 census of Coolcullen, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is not known whether they immgrated to Canada. - Children of MARY KERFOOT and JOHN GRIFFITH are: i. MARY4 GRIFFITH. ii. BETTY GRIFFITH. iii. SALLY GRIFFITH. iv. ANNE GRIFFITH. v. PEGGY GRIFFITH. vi. JANE GRIFFITH. vii. MAY GRIFFITH. viii. JOHN GRIFFITH.
RESEARCH NOTES - What age was she? Was she George and Eleanor’s daughter or granddaughter? A generation gap exists in this family.
