For many years she was a primary school teacher in Smith Falls, Ontario. Talented in music, she served in the choir of Trinity Methodist Church in Smith Falls as well as in the Sunday School and the Missionary Department. On the occasion of the centenary of the Prospect Chruch in 1924 when a choir of the Kerfoots supplied the music, it was Alma, a kerfooot, who presided at the organ. At the time of her funeral it was said of her "she lived a short life of thirty-five years, greatly lived".

He was a graduate of Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In the First World War he served with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the D.C.M. for courageous acts in the trenches. After the war he was on the staff of the Peterboro Collegiate. As of 1953 he was still there. During the Second World War he served as commander of the Peterboro Collegiate Rangers. As of 1953 he held the rank of Colonel. As of 1953 the family resided at Twenty Acres, R.R. No. 3, Peterboro, Ontario. They had 2 children

341. William B CRAIG (Richard6, Deborah SMITH5, Ann KERFOOT4, William3, George2, Thomas1). Born on 2 Aug 1895 in Smith Falls, Montague Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. William B died in Burges, France, on 26 Sep 1918; he was 23.

iv. WILLIAM B. CRAIG, b. 2 August 1895, Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada.; d. 26 September 1918, Burges, France.
He was training to be a druggist at the time of his enlistment in the Royal Naval Service during World War I where he was in the same squadron as the future George VI. As a lieutenant he led his squardron over Burges, Belgium on September 26, 1918 and failed to return. For many months he was listed as missing and "believed to be alive somewhere in Belgium or Germany". Then the British War Ministry finally declared him to be dead. In his home town he had been a tenor solist in the church choir for many years and was loved for his friendliness. It is significant that in his diary, which was sent home after his death, he often referred to "Prince Albert"[ Belgium King] and his love of music and his friendship with the other members of his regiment.

During World War II she was head technician in charge of the Brockville Blood Service and was also in charge of the Mobile Blood Donor Service which called regularly at Ogdenburg, Watertown, Morristown and Smith Falls.
