RESEARCH NOTES
- one researcher shows 2 Johns born to Ann Chittenden/Boorman - 1 with last name Chittenden, the other with last name Boorman - seems odd. A wife Sarah is referenced for each of them, but in different ways. 2nd John - furniture repairer. I suspect these were the same person, baptised as Chittenden, taking on the name Boorman (mother’s married name) by the 1841 census.

- in an 1872 directory of Maidstone and surrounding villages, there were only 2 Boormans listed living in Maidstone proper in 1872:
Boorman, John, wheelwright, Sandling road -p.r. 1, Cambridge square, Scott Street
Boorman, Thomas, fishmonger, 18 Sandling Road
Perhaps this John and his brother Thomas?

- From another researcher: John Boorman possibly went to Australia with wife Sarah and son John on The barque FATIMA. Departed London January 17 1850 and arrived at Port Adelaide South Australia 11 June 1850
525. William BOORMAN (John7, John6, William5, William4, William3, Thomas2, William1). Born abt 1827 in Staplehurst, Kent, England. - One source lists this George as born abt 1838, a photographer and nurse, married to Mary Dudney in 1860. One daughter Lavenia Jane Boorman (1863 Redhill Surrey - ) is listed - a nurse who married a Warner. A further biography from this source:
“The Boorman family that was centerd has connections by marrage @1880 wtih the Ransley family these were smugglers and subject of a TV program by Vic Reves. 2 Rancley sisters lived in the Faversham area Polly (Mary married George Boorman and had 3 children Molly George (who was 16 at the outbreak of WW2) and Constance) and Tilly (Matilda? who remained single and remembered a male relation who was imprisioned in the hulks (de commissioned wooden war ships) in Portsmouth harbour prior to deportation to Australia). After some study it was concluded by my father the 16yr old George menioned above that the family was Dutch with contact and referance to the Medway Ports area sometime prior to the English Civil War as they were proud of the 'Man of Kent' sataus the family held, which only came into being at that time. George b1838 married Mary Dudney 1891 living in 75 Earlsbrook Rd Reigate working as a photographer. 1901 living at 122 Earlsbrook Rd Reigate working as a Sick Mental Nurse 1911 still living at 122 Earlsbrook Rd a six roomed private house. His daughter is listed as the head. Been married for 51 years. Five children, four still alive.”
[It seems possible that this was another George.]

- Another source says George was born abt 1840 in Staplehurst, baptised 9 Oct 1842 Staplehurst, a Coachman Domestic Servant [as per 1881 census], married to a Lucy (born about 1843 in Minterne, Dorset), with 2 sons Herbert G and John J. born in Haynes, Bedford.[as per 1881 census]. [This version seems more likely.]

- 1901 census: a George Boorman, age 59 [1842] born Staplehurst, Kent] living in St George Hanover Square, Belgrave, London, Middlesex England [can’t view others in household] - could this be him?
In 1901 census there is a different George Boorman born 1838 Canterbury Kent living in Reigate Surrey England in 1901, also in 1881 [George b 1838 Canterbury, Head, Married Artist Photographer, living with son Frederick Wm Borman [sic] and an Alfred Shedd - no others listed].
In 1901 there is a 3rd George Boorman, born 1842 in Bougton Blean Kent, living in Faversham Kent. In 1901 there is a 4th George who seems to have been born 1839 in Hadlow Kent, living with wife Caroline and children in Tunbridge Kent in 1881.
Lots of choices and opportunities for confusion.
In 1860 when George was 20, he first married Mary DUDNEY. Born abt 1840 in Redhill, Surrey, England.

RESEARCH NOTES
- Mary Dudney listed as the wife of George Boorman (b.1938), with 1 daughter listed - This is likely a different George, not this George (baptised 1842) who was the son of John Boorman and Ann Chittenden.
George second married Lucy. Born abt 1843 in Minterne, Dorset, England.
