William [Sr] made his will on 19 Mar 1785 when wife Jane was still alive. Ref. No. Kent Archive Office PRC17/102.22. Jane was provided for: youngest son Anthony got 300 pounds if he returned home: son William of Headcorn got his father’s house and land in Staplehurts: and daughter Mercy and son-in-law James Carpenter got land in Cranbrook. By 1818 son William was William Boorman, wheelwright of Staplehurst.

- Staplehurst: At the corner of Chapel Lane and the main road through Staplehurst is the former site of the Boorman wheelwright shop.  The family donated the land to the church, and is now the site of The United Reformed Church (Hight Street at Chapel Lane). The current wheelwright business (green sign) is a short distance down Chapel Lane and on the opposite side of the road, across from a large brick wall behind which is the property formerly owned by the Boorman family.

- William BOORMAN & Ann WELLER had a son Thomas who was alive on 6 Feb 1819, the date of William's Will in which Thomas is named as a benefactor. William’s will is PROB11/1687 at the Public Record Office at Kew in London, made 6/2/1819. He bequeaths to his daughter Ann, wife of William Denman, now in North America, 30 pounds sterling and one-sixth of his goods.
Further details from will transcript:
Executors were wife Ann Boorman, John Love farmer of Wirk Farm Headcorn, and Jeffry Chainey farmer of Staplehurst. Each was bequeathed 5 pounds for their services.
Wife Ann received 5 pounds, use of household goods, furniture, plalte, linenen and china during her life; the interest, dividends and annual produce of all the residue of his moneies an seurities for money, chattels, estates and effects for the remainder of her life.
Sons William Boorman, David Boorman and Thomas Boorman received “5 pounds each and no more they having already had a considerable share of my property” after their mother’s death.
“… to my daughter Ann Denman, wife of William Denman, now in North America, the sum of thirty pounds to be paid by my said executors in tweve calendar months next after the decease of my said wife.”
“…Son Edward Boorman who now has the half part of my business of a wheelwright should take on the whole of the same at the decease of my said wife or sooner if she sahll be disposed to relinquish the same.”
Any remaining balance: “… after the decease of my said wife to divide the same into six equal parts or shares and pay and divide five equal sixth parts or shares thereof unto and amongst my five children “ listed as daughter Ann Denman, daughter Susannah Tamkin widow of William Tamkin, daughter Jane Terry wife of William Terry, son Edwarrd Boorman, daugher Elizabeth Boorman. The remaining 6th part to divided between “Sarah Boorman and John Boorman, the two children of my late son John Boorman deceased to be paid to them respectively as they arrive at the age of 21 years.”

However: He was a wheelwright, but as his father died in 1790, and as many of this William’s children were born in Staplehurst, he likely moved there well before 1790.

- If Ann was really born abt 1745, 7 years after John Weller and Sarah's marriage [her reported parents, she was likely the result of a teenage pregnancy. So I wonder if John Weller was really her father, or just adopted by him after marriage? The next sibling listed is in 1754, 9 years after Ann's birth. Or, are these her correct parents at all? Source records seem scarce. ...
- If Ann was married in Maidstone, and died in Staplehurst, I wonder if her birth was really in Speldhurst (closer to Tonbridge) or the similar-sounding Staplehurst (with closer connections to Maidstone)? Just a feeling as I haven't done much research on the Wellers. ...
