Mercelina “Mercy” died in Staplehurst, Kent, England, on 25 Sep 1750; she was 30. Buried on 28 Sep 1750 in All Saints, Staplehurst, Kent, England.

RESEARCH NOTES
- NAME: May be spelt Mercelina (rather than Mercilina). Last name variants: Knowleden, Knowlden, Knolden ...

From other researchers:
- Listed as Mercelina (Mercy) Knowlden of Linton, born about 1720, had 3 children and died 25/9/1750, buried 28/9/1750 at Staplehurst

- “I think that Mercelina Knowlden’s father probably was indeed William of Linton, as I have seen that a William Knowlden of Linton married Mercy Lockington 20 Oct 1702 at All Saint’s, Maidstone, Kent (4 miles from Linton).”

- There is the will of a William Knowlden of Linton made 1744 Prob 1745 PRC32/62/365a. Other Knowlden wills are from Charing and Ivychurch.
From http://wills.canterbury-cathedral.org/ - the original reference to this will is PRC/31/215 K/3.

From ancestry (Prerogative Court of Canterbury wills) - this collection only lists 6 Knowlden wills, but not one for William. I don’t know if or how this one is connected, but the probate year is the same:

RESEARCH NOTES
- Original source: Rita’s 2001 chart after visiting Headcorn, England.
- Was he married before, or are children’s birthdates wrong. Thomas and Elizabeth married in 1753, yet I currently have their first 3 children born before 1753 ???
- one researcher says: “I can't prove whether or not Thomas (1722) was William and Sarah Chapman's son other than that his birthdate would fit so I have left his parentage as queried for the moment.  I haven't seen any definite baptism records either to confirm.”
- Another researcher reports that the Thomas who married an Elizabeth and had 7 children (Thomas, John, George, Sarah, William, Benjamin and James) was the son of John Boorman and Ester Meopham.
On 2 Nov 1753 when Thomas was 31, he married Elizabeth BADCOCK in Staplehurst All Saints, Staplehurst, Kent, England. Born in 1723 in of Staplehurst, Kent, England. Elizabeth died in Kent, England, on 23 Feb 1801; she was 78. Buried on 28 Feb 1801 in Love Lane Baptist Cemetery, Headcorn, Kent, England.

- 1801 Elizabeth of Biddenden died age 78. Buried at the Headcorn Baptist meeting house.
ALSO
- 1801 - "Elizabeth Boorman of the parish of Biddenden was buried in the general baptist burying ground at Headcorn on the 28th of Feb 1801. Aged 78 years." [on same page as another Elizabeth wife of John]

RESEARCH NOTES
- Elizabeth Badcock had a daughter Sarah Badcock baptised 15 Oct 1752, the year before a marriage of Thomas Boorman to Elizabeth Badcock in 1753.

- could Elizabeth be buried in Staplehurst instead (as she was married there)? Likely a different Elizabeth.

RESEARCH NOTES
- Thomas Bowles seems to be a common name in Kent
- there are a number of early baptisms for children of Thomas Bowles and Sarah [IGI batch P01051-4) but dates are too early [perhaps for a cousin or even an earlier marriage to another Sarah?]:
> Charles Bowles, chr. 23 Jun 1737 St Andrew, Holborn, London
> Mary Bowles, chr. 12 Jul 1730 St Andrew, Holborn, London
> Samuel Bowles, chr. 19 Nov 1732 St Andrew, Holborn, London
- in at least 1 parish record transcription source, there seems to be a gap between 1686 and 1727)
- another Thomas Bowles married an Elizabeth Smith, 4 Nov 1754 Westcliff Kent
They had the following children:
38i.
Thomas BOWLES (Twin) (1759-1800)
39ii.
Sarah BOWLES (Twin) (1759-1847)
