RESEARCH NOTES
- from another researcher about the name Iden: “
'Iden' is of significance through Alexander Iden who beheaded Jack Cade (little bit of England History) married the widow of the Constable Jack Cade killed and the name was given to the first male born in each generation (I think the story was lost in my mothers' generation and the tradition may have been lost”
According to http://memory.loc.gov/master/gdc/scdser01/200401/b...01065ge/00000048.pdf
“The Iden family were large landowners certainly as early as the middle of the 13th century, owning land about Iden in Sussex and Rolvenden and elsewhere in Kent. About the beginning of the 15th century they were resident at Westwell, where was born Alexander, who killed Cade the Rebel in 1450….”
