This morning the curtain felll o the last act of one of those numerous but never uninteresting dramas of youth, when the Rev. F. Whitehouse, vicar of Holy Trinity Church, affixed the bonds of holy matrimony on Mr Donald McDonald, of the firm of McDonald Bros., dredge builders of Dunedin, and Miss J. Henham, youngest daughter of Mr Henham, of Tui Street.
Quite unecessary it is for me to say that the consummation of this happy event was eagerly awaited by all the friends of the happy pair. Through the courtesy of a special, I am enabled to inform your readers that the bride looked charming in a dress of electric blue poplin, trimmed with white silk; she wore a hat of white felt trimmed to match, and shower bouqet. The dresses of the bridesmaids (Misses Olive and Ellen Wild, nieces of the bride) were khaki costumes with hats to match. The bride’s travelling dress was of navy blue cloth, and black leghorn hat to match.
The bride was given away by her father, while the groom was attended by Mr Ethelbert Henham, the bride’s brother, as best man.
The presents of the bridegroom to the bride was a handsome gold broach, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches. The bride’s gift to the bridgroom was a pair of gold sleeve links.
Followed and accompanied by all good wishes for future happiness, the young couple left at 2 p.m. for Greymouth, en route to the future home in Dunedin, the honeymoon meanwhile to be spent in Christchurch.”
