his wife
Katherine Viola Mildred Compton
1910 - 1935
RESEARCH NOTES:
Katherine is listed twice in these pages in both the families of her adoptive and her birth parents, all related. Here she is listed with her adoptive parents.
There were 2 Katherine Comptons in 2 consecutive generations. This Katherine Compton was the niece of the Katherine Compton who raised her. Middle names were also similar. They died within 1 day of each other in 1935.
The younger Katherine [Viola Mildred] Compton 1910-1935, adopted daughter of Katherine “Kate” and Henry Compton, is the same person as Katherine Compton, daughter of Leopold Compton.
The older Viola Catherine "Kate" Compton 1863-1935 (sister of Leopold Compton, the birth father of the younger Katherine Compton), married her 1st cousin William Henry Compton and adopted their niece Katherine Compton rather than have children of their own.
