On 1 Jan 1807 when Honour was 22, she married William ANDREW , son of William? ANDREW (ca1750-) & Elizabeth?, in Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England. Born abt 1781 in Cornwall, England. William died in Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England, on 6 Apr 1833; he was 52. Buried on 9 Apr 1833 in Kilkhampton Church, Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England. Occupation: farmer, North Cornwall, England.

- 1781: William Andrew was born ca 1781 in Cornwall, England. or 1780 or 1782 [based on his age at death]

- 1807: He married Honour Grigg, daughter of Charles Grigg or Gregg and Elizabeth Cornish, on 1 Jan 1807 in Kilkhampton, Cornwall. - from IGI Batch M007171, Source 897356, Pr: 0883504 [IGI index does not list parents names]
Marriage transcript: “St. James Parish Church, Kilkhampton, Cornwall William Andrew of (this) Parish and Honor Grigg of (this) were married in this (Church) by (Banns) this first Day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and seven by me, John Davis (Rector) This marriage was solemnized between us: The X’s of William Andrews, Honor Grigg, signed In the Presence of Charles Grigg & Thomas Andrew. “ William is described as a yeoman.
In Kilkhampton church records, marriage of William Andrew and Honor Grigg, they were married on the 1st of January 1806 [1807?] and both noted as of the Parish of Kilkhampton. Honor was able to sign her name and Willilam was not. The witnesses were Charles Grigg and Thomas Andrew. Charles was Honor’s brother [also the name of her father] and I suggest it is very unlikely that Thomas was not William’s. I suspect the family were from the nearby area of Bridgerule or Holsworth (cf. Bill Glenn email to Donna Martin).
- 1807: in baptism records for their son Thomas: William being born 1781, a journeyman, married 1807, lived in Lynnsworthy.

- 1816: He was noted between 1816 and 1824 [children’s baptisms] as a yeoman in Lymsworthy near Kilkhampton, Cornwall. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a yeoman as “a man owning and cultivating a small estate, a freeholder under the rank of gentleman”.

- 1833 He died on 6 Apr 1833 in Kilkhampton, Cornwall.
- 1833 Burial record: 9 Apr 1833 William Andrew, Langford, age 52

Washed in my Saviour’s precious blood.
There is no second death.
To sleep in Jesus. O how sweet.
And soon I shall arise.
To meet my glorious living head,
With triumphs in the skies.”

On 31 Mar 1818 when Jane was 24, she married Richard Allen CHAPPLE in St Marys Chapel, Walcot, Bath, Somerset, England. Born ca 1790. Richard Allen died in UK bef 1841; he was 51. Occupation: Plumber.

- (from http://www.shade.id.au/Chapple/Chapple1.htm#120)
Richard Allen CHAPPLE
The earliest records found of Richard Chapple are the marriage records, which consist of a Marriage Bond, Marriage Licence, Bishop's Transcript, and Parish Register.

These state that both parties were at least 21 years old at marriage, and bachelor and spinster, so suggesting the births of both in the period 1790 - 1799. The second name, Allen, was only found in the 1852 marriage of the daughter Frances.

The Marriage Bond dated 30th Mar 1818 specifies that Richard Chapple, bachelor, Plumber and Glazier of the Parish of Walcot in the County of Somerset, and Jane Grigg, spinster of the same Parish, may lawfully solemnize marriage together, in accordance with certain conditions. The Marriage Bond also carries the name of Henry Richardson, Hairdresser, of the same Parish and County. The Marriage Licence dated the same day includes the information that both Richard and Jane were of the age twenty one years and upward.

Richard CHAPPLE and Jane GRIGG were married 31 Mar 1818 at the Chapel of St Mary in the Parish of Walcot in the County of Somerset (Queen Square, Bath), England. The Bishop's Transcript of the marriage has a blank for Jane's parish. The marriage was in the presence of James Shipp and Joseph Tucker. Some Australian records have her name as CRAIG, which was not the case, presumably a phonetic error by Australian clerks due to the family's southwest English accent. Jane was noted to be not born in Somerset (ref 1841 census). Her year of birth was c1794 (from her Death Cert).

Richard's occupation was variously referred to as plumber (in son William's death cert), painter and glazier, and gentleman.

Their address was 2 or 3 Northampton St, Bath [Somerset], throughout the baptisms of all the children, from 1819 to 1836. No record of Richard Chapple has been found after the last child.

Ref 1841 census. The husband Richard was not listed.

There are no records of Richard after the last child, ie 1835. He is not listed in 1837 or later Bath poll books (ref Barry Chapple) nor in the 1841 census.

Jane was recorded as lodging-house keeper at 12 Rivers St, Bath, in Pigots Directory for Bath 1842, and died at that address.

Jane died 7 Feb 1844 at 12 Rivers Street, Lansdown sub-district, Bath, and was buried 11 Feb 1844 at Bath (ref Walcot Parish Church register). Her address at death was a Lodging House with about 9 residents, as can be seen in the 1841 census for that address. Her daughter Fanny was present at the death. Her alleged age at death on the DC was 50 years.

In their son Richard's death certificate in 1881, Richard Chapple is described as "Gentleman" and his wife Jane Griff is incorrectly named Fanny Craig.
