RESEARCH NOTES
- which Grace did he marry?
- from one source (seems to contain some errors): Lawrence Ashton (born about 1712) of Bradworthy, Devon, and Grace Cornish, of Morewenstow, Cornwall, were married in Grace's home town 22 May 1736. [The following may reference the wrong Grace Cornish; believe this Grace Cornish was baptised 25 Jun 1709 in Poughill, daughter of Samuel Cornish and Grace ?]..., baptized at Kilkhampton, Cornwall 9 April 1716, was the daughter of John Cornish, Jr. and Grace Eliot, who were married at Kilkhampton 28 December 1712. John Jr. was the son of John Cornish and Elizabeth Littlejohns. Grace Eliot, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Eliot, was baptized at Kilkhampton 28 May 1689 and buried there 11 September 1725.

RESEARCH NOTES:
- 2 marriages listed for Dorcas Cornish - if both are for this Dorcas, then why is 2nd in her maiden name? From her father’s will, it seems that at least the Burnard marriage applies to her.
- Could John Burnard be the same John Burnard, son of Charles Burnard and Honour Hambly, baptised 1722?
- no Elliot children/baptisms listed for parents John and Dorcas Elliott Same result for John and Dorcas Burnard (too old to have children, likely).

- (Possibly) Married 5 Dec 1746 at Kilkhampton (as Dorcas) to John ELLIOT (ref IGI & findmypast). He was born c1712 at Kilkhampton (ref Family Group Record by LDS member). However, the Bishop's Transcript says John Elliot of Hartland.

RESEARCH NOTES:
- baptism not found, but listed in father’s will (assumed to be a son)
- Born c1723. No baptism record found.

- one source lists Daniel marrying twice
1) to Anne Chuke m 17 Nov 1742? Kilkhampton - had a daughter Grace born 1745? Poughill
2) to Elizabeth Braginton m abt 1770 OR RATHER Mary Cleave 1758 Holsworthy Devon
- 2 children baptised to Dan and Ann on Cornwall OPC site - the first daughter in Kilkhampton, then the 2nd daughter bapt. Poughill, but living in Morwenstow. identification of Daniel according to Sheila Yeo 2011).
- his marriage certificate to Mary Cleave in 1758 says he was a bachelor!

- Another tree on ancestry says that Mary Cleave was christend 24 Jun 1733 in Holsworthy (as per the IGI), and married Daniel Cornish 25 Jun 1758 Holsworthy, who was the son of Daniel Cornish (1703) and Elizabeth Cattiford, and christened 30 Dec 1729 in Ide Devon (as per IGI). They had 2 sons John (1759- ) and William Cornish (1760- ). This needs further investigation, but if correct, my tree is wrong. Ide is on the outskirts of Exeter in south Devon.
Children of Daniel Cornish and Elizabeth, christened in Ide Devon are (according to IGI batch C05119-1):
John Cornish, chr 13 Apr 1735, born 31 Mar 1735
Daniel Cornish, chr 30 Dec 1729 [mother’s name not listed]

- Listed in the “England, Devon, Parish Registers” collection, there is a skimpy entry for the baptism of Daniel Cornish in 1726 in Devon, folder 004634987. No other info. Image can be viewed at a FamilySearch Center. Also a marriage that same year between Daniel Cornish and Mary Edgcumbe
On 17 Nov 1743 when Daniel was 20, he first married Anne CHUKE in Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England. Born in 1718 in Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England. Christened on 29 Jul 1718 in KIlkhampton, Cornwall, England.

RESEARCH NOTES
- may have died before 1758 when Daniel remarried (if in fact this Daniel was really the one who married Mary Cleave - the marriage cert says he was a bachelor in 1758). Can’t find burial records for Ann in Kilkhampton (may not be indexed this far back - earliest burial for Ann Cornish there is 1846 - age 90).
They had the following children:
150i.
151ii.
On 25 Jun 1758 when Daniel was 35, he second married Mary CLEAVE in Holsworthy, Devon, England. Born ca 1725.

RESEARCH NOTES
- As she was married in Holsworthy Devon, perhaps she was also born there? This is a possible baptism (only one indexed in Holsworthy in this generation on familysearch.org):

[Ide is on the outskirts of Exeter in south Devon; Holsworthy is on the north side.]

- FMP seems to have limited early baptism records in Devon, including Widecombe in the Moor (S central Devon in Dartmoor Nat Park), Crediton (NW of Exeter), Bickington (S coast W of Newton Abbot), Silverton (N of Exeter) - none in N Devon, at least for Cleave.
