- 1870s (from another researcher): Grace Bray married Joseph Evans [corrected to John Evans] of Hartland. They moved to Ontario, Canada in the 1870's after all their children had been born and many had already grown up and married. I am descended through their son John Evans [corrected to Jospeh Evans] who went to Ontario with them, and moved down to the States after he had started his own family in Canada. His brother Samuel moved down to the States as well and they lived in the same town. They seem to have been very close. I had never known where the name Samuel came from, but I now believe that Samuel Evans was named after Elizabeth Cornish's father Samuel Cornish.

- The Brays (Samuel's daughter Elizabeth/Betsey's family) ended up in the workhouse - I greatly doubt they had enough to leave a will .
- One of Grace Bray Evans's children married a Brimacombe in Devon. She was one of the few children to stay in England when the rest of the family emigrated to Canada.
- John Evans married Grace Bray ...I have 9 children in that generation - Maria, Hannah, Charles, Betsy, Jane, Joseph, Samuel, Thomas William. There is no John Evans who was the son of John and Grace (Bray) Evans

- assuming this is the Elizabeth mentioned: “Young Elizabeth Bray died 12 Feb 1843 in Bradworthy of burns. The County Coroner was the informant on the death record. It took over a week for the death to be registered so between that and the coroner being involved, I imagine there was an investigation. This autumn I paid the North Devon Records Office to look through newspapers for articles about her death and/or the investigation, but they reported to me last week that unfortunately they could not find a single one. And coroner's reports from this time mostly don't survive. So while I would really like to know the story behind what happened to her (and secondarily had hoped that any articles/records might contain clues to what happened to her parents), I am afraid I may be at a dead end. “
