Josiah Johnson Hunt, 68, died at his home in the Pleasant Hill community Sunday after an illness of two weeks with serious illlness developing Wednesday preceding death.
Born in the section of Crittenden in which he died, Mr. Hunt attended school in the old log school at Pleasant Hill near the site of the present church and grew to manhood on the farm of his parents, early settlers in that section.
He was a deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1911 and for several years, superintendent of the Sunday School.
Survivors are his wife, formerly Lucy Jane Hughes; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Guess, Mrs. Geneva Belt, both of this county, and Mrs Pearl Hucherson, Akron, Ohio; three sons, Eugene and Hillis, this county, and Ezra of Iowa; a brother, Wyatt of county; and two half brothers; John and Henry Swansey, all of Crittenden.

After Elizabeth [Allen Hunt] died in 1865 John went to Crittenden Co., KY to visit relatives and ended up marrying a Civil War widow, Sarah Paris Swansey/Swancey, stayed there and had 4 more children. An interesting note is what a descendant of John's nephew who still lives in Crittenden Co. says and that is that the local story was that John and Sarah's neighbor was probably the actual father of the last child who was named for the neighbor. ”
