- From another researcher: He was at one time a telegraph operator. Later he managed a book and stationary store which he bought in 1892. He continued until 1945. During this time he was also interested in and part owner of Smith Falls Casting Company. In 1947 there was a serious fire and the business block in which the stationary store was located was destroyed by this fire. The Casting company was also damaged by the fire. He retired from business at that time. Following the musical tradition of the Kerfoots, he was musical director for many years at Trinity United Church, in Smith Falls. In 1953 he and his wife travelled to England and the continent. The highlight of the trip was the coronation of Queen Ellizabeth on June 2, 1953. He wondered how many of his descendents would be able to attend a coronation. In addition to Mabel Margaret, there were twins who died in infancy.

He graduated in medicine at McGIlls University in 1906. Then he did a year's medical sevice at a hospital in Ottawa and then one year's medical practice in Pakenham Village, four years at Brockville and one year at Byron Sanatorium, London, Ontario. During the First World War he served overseas from 1915 to 1919. His service included one year with the Royal Army Medical Corps in the Eastern Mediterranean-Lemnos. Back in England after the Great War he took the examinations and received the degrees, L.R.C.P. and M.R.C.S. He then returned to Smith Falls and was still practicing there in 1953. Like other members of his family, he was musical and was involved in various glee clubs choirs and musical groups. At one time he and three other Kerfoot brothers, Earnest, John and William formed a quartet. As part of a Rotary Group they won first at the Ottawa Fesitval of Music in 1950. In May 1953 he was presented with an honorary life membership in the Ontario Medical Association.
He provided financial support to Winnifred Mair in putting together the history of the Kerfoot Family. See Winnifred Mair.
They had one baby who died in infancy.
