- Staplehurst: At the corner of Chapel Lane and the main road through Staplehurst is the former site of the Boorman wheelwright shop. The family donated the land to the church, and is now the site of The United Reformed Church (Hight Street at Chapel Lane). The current wheelwright business (green sign) is a short distance down Chapel Lane and on the opposite side of the road, across from a large brick wall behind which is the property formerly owned by the Boorman family.

William’s will is PROB11/1687 at the Public Record Office at Kew in London, made 6/2/1819. He bequeaths to his daughter Ann, wife of William Denman, now in North America, 30 pounds sterling and one-sixth of his goods.

Executors were wife Ann Boorman, John Love farmer of Wirk Farm Headcorn, and Jeffry Chainey farmer of Staplehurst. Each was bequeathed 5 pounds for their services.
Wife Ann received 5 pounds, use of household goods, furniture, plalte, linenen and china during her life; the interest, dividends and annual produce of all the residue of his moneies an seurities for money, chattels, estates and effects for the remainder of her life.
Sons William Boorman, David Boorman and Thomas Boorman received “5 pounds each and no more they having already had a considerable share of my property” after their mother’s death.
“… to my daughter Ann Denman, wife of William Denman, now in North America, the sum of thirty pounds to be paid by my said executors in tweve calendar months next after the decease of my said wife.”
“…Son Edward Boorman who now has the half part of my business of a wheelwright should take on the whole of the same at the decease of my said wife or sooner if she sahll be disposed to relinquish the same.”
