RESEARCH NOTES
- from another researcher:
Son of John Avery and Mary Morris; brother of John, Willaim, Ann, Samuel, and Henry.
The marriage to Sarah is not on the IGI although the 4 children's' baptisms are. It was not in Aldington as all Aldington marriages are on the Internet. There is marriage of Thomas and Sarah Jenner 7 April 1799 in Benenden, Kent, which is about 3 or 4 miles from Sandhurst. The tithe award schedule for Aldington via the KentArchaeology.org.uk site has Thomas Avery as owner and occupier of arable and pasture land. He is the only Avery on the schedule. These tithe surveys were carried out in the 1830s and 1840s. Is this him? The 1851 Census has Thomas Avery, a lodger with William Chambers and Sarah, which I am sure is her father. It says he was 74, an ag lab, born in Sandhurst, Kent, which fits. He died 23 Nov 1853 aged 76, a labourer, living in Burmarsh, from a diseased bladder. The death was registered by son-in-law William Chambers, who made his mark.
They had the following children:
649i.
Thomas AVERY (1801-)
650ii.
651iii.
Sarah AVERY (1809-1890)
652iv.
John AVERY (1812-)
