RESEARCH NOTES:
- also listed as Masry (1795-1877).
- original source lists 1795 baptism in Jefferson Twp, Knox, OH, USA; alternately found baptism entry in 1795 in Cornwall England
- listed as marrying a Richard Banbury. Another source finds Marr 30 Dec 1812 at Kilkhampton [Cornwall, England] to Richard BANBURY (ref IGI & FMP).
If this Mary was born and lived in the USA as the first source suggests, then it would be more likely that this marriage was for a different Mary Cornish - likely Mary Cornish (b 1791 Kilkhampton), daughter of Samuel Cornish and Grace Tucker. But this Mary was NOT born in Ohio USA and turns out to be the better candidate - the right age at death (as per gravestone in Ohio), and witnesses at wedding included a Wickett (mother’s maiden name) and a John Cornis - likely her brother.
- Is it correct that Mary [wife of Richard Banbury] is buried in the Banbury-Rice Family Cemetery Danville, Ohio? - yes

- The Bridgerule Tax Assessment records for 1816-1829 show Richard Banbury at Tinney, a tiny village about three miles southeast of Bridgerule, and only a mile from Pinkworthy. Baptismal records for his children refer to Richard as of "Tineo". Tineo and Tinney appear in records for the same place, so Tineo may be the name of the farm located in Tinney. In his will, Charles, Richard's father gave to him "all that tenament in Tinney in the parish of Bridgerule, called Sleemans Tenement with all the appurtenances thereto belonging".
Richard, his wife, Mary nee Cornish, and four children emigrated to America in 1832, just two years after his father died. On June 26th, 1832, he purchased a parcel of land in Jefferson Twp, Knox, Ohio from William Starner. He returned to England, aparently by himself and sailed back in 1835 on the Cosmopolite with three of his brother's children. He appears to have persuaded alot of his friends and relatives to follow him to Ohio, including the Hicks, Harris, Colwill and Allin families.
- From 1817 to 1829, their residence listed as Tines, Bridgerule, Devon, and his occupation Yeoman.
- Migrated to Ohio, USA. In 1835 there is a record for Ohio, primary immigrant Richard Banberry, date when declaration of intent of naturalization occurred in Knox County (ref Ancestry Passenger & Immigration Lists).
- 1835: A deed found in Mt Vernon, Ohio, dated 4th July, 1835, shows that Richard and his wife Mary, sold land to Andrew Hicks. Richard was Andrew's cousin, his father Charles was the brother of Andrew's mother Joanne, who had married Andrew Hicks, on the 28th, September, 1791 in Launcells.
... The farm [he bought from William Starner] is now owned by his three sons, Charles, Richard and John C. By the new township line that was run a few years since, the farm is now in Union township. He lived on the same farm and followed farming and stock raising as his vocation until his death. Mr. Banbury and wife raised a family of six children, four born in England, viz: Charles, Mary A., Elizabeth and Richard. Two were born in Jefferson township, Knox county, Ohio, John C. and Hannah. All are living, married and have families. ... Mr: Banbury was father of six children, grandfather of forty-two children, and great-grandfather of forty-two children. He departed this life in 1875, aged eighty-four years. His companion survived until July 3, 1877, when she died, aged eighty-one years. (Knox County History)

For Mary Cornish it states: Mary – wife or R. Banbury – Died July 3, 1877 – aged 81Y 10M 17D ... that would make a calculation that should help decide the “real birthday” for this Mary Cornish. RESEARCH NOTES
- Richard Banbury was first listed as husband of Mary Cornish (1795), daughter of Philip Cornish and Ann. If this Mary was born (1795) and lived in the USA as the first source suggests, then it would be more likely that this marriage was for a different Mary Cornish - likely Mary Cornish (b 1791 Kilkhampton), daughter of Samuel Cornish and Grace Tucker. So which one? - We believe her to be the daughter of Phillip Cornish and Ann Wickett.
- can’t find his birth/bapt record online
- in marriage record of Richard Banbury to Mary Cornish, he is from Bridgerule and she is from Kilkhampton.
- lineage of one Cornish researcher:
GGG Grandparents = Richard Banbury & Mary Cornish
GG Grandparents = Richard Banbury & Margaret Kirby Daugherty
G Grandparents = Charles K. Banbury & Hallie Armstrong
Grandparents = Owen D. Banbury & Emma Edna "Jean" Atkinson
Parents = Raymond W. Banbury & Olive Lorraine Gardner All deceased.

25 Nov 1829 Hannah, Bridgerule, res: Tines?, yeoman
8 Dec 1829 Hannah, Bridgerul, res: Tineo, farmer - May not be the right family.
- 6 children listed by one source: Charles 1815, Mary A 1821, Elizabeth 1825, Richard 1828, John C 1832 Ohio, Hannah 1833 Ohio - first 4 children born in Devonshire England. Originally listed Sharlett as a child - bapt 1825 Bible Christian Kilkhampton????
Number and names of children listed vary by source. It seems likely that they had more than 6 children, perhaps 9? One source lists the first child as Mary Charlotte [may have died young considering names of later children]; another lists a last son William C (1835).
- Children of Richard Banbury and Mary Cornish are [according to Yeo society site]:
* Mary Charlotte Banbury, born 17 Nov 1813 in Bridgerule, Devon; died 19 Nov 1813 in Bridgerule, Devon.

- the Banbury family was very closely centered at St. Swithuns, Launcells, Cornwall until the early 1800s and then they fade from that connection…. This past year we were “led” to a Methodist Church that the Banburys were instrumental in establishing and building… It is where Richard Banbury and Mary Cornish were members before emigrating.
They had the following children:
