- She was married at a double wedding with her sister Barbara at her parents' home in Neapen Township. After their marriage, they lived on Nelson's farm until 1870 when they moved to Russell, Ontario and operated a sawmill until it burned some years later. Then they went to Manitoba and settled on a farm near Chater. Their last child A. George was born there in 1885. They retired to Brandon where they lived until their deaths.

Historic Sites of Manitoba: Kerfoot United Church and Cemetery (RM of North Cypress)
This church in the Rural Municipality of North Cypress was built in 1895. A plaque, dedicated at a ceremony on 9 July 1978, commemorates the pioneers in the Dempsey-Kerfoot-Gregg district. The first pioneers included John Clark, Joseph Dempsey, Thomas McFarlane, Foster Olmstead Sr., John Sallows, Joseph Sallows, George Shillington, and Wesley Shillington. Behind the church is a small cemetery.

- They farmed on the seventh line of Goulbourn Township, Carleton County until they moved to Winlaw, Saskatchewan in 1897 or 1898. William died at Workman and was buried there. Sarah sold the farm and lived with a son, Fletcher, at Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada for a few years. Then she moved to Brandon, Manitoba and the three widowed sisters, Sarah, Deborah and Lydia Ann kept house for a time. On Deborah's death Sarah went to live with a daughter, Agnes Argue, on a farm near Grand Coulee. She lived there until her death. She was buried beside her husband at Workman, Saskatchewan.

Historic Sites of Manitoba: Kerfoot United Church and Cemetery (RM of North Cypress)
This church in the Rural Municipality of North Cypress was built in 1895. A plaque, dedicated at a ceremony on 9 July 1978, commemorates the pioneers in the Dempsey-Kerfoot-Gregg district. The first pioneers included John Clark, Joseph Dempsey, Thomas McFarlane, Foster Olmstead Sr., John Sallows, Joseph Sallows, George Shillington, and Wesley Shillington. Behind the church is a small cemetery.

- He and his second wife farmed near Hartely, Manitoba for some years and then moved to Elmore, Saksatchewan (P.O. Carievale, Saskatchewan, Canada) in 1902 where he bought a section of green, unbroken prairie land. Leaving the farm to the youngest son they retired to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1926 where they lived for many years. In Winnipeg they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March 12, 1934 and their diamond wedding in 1944. On both occasions all of their children were present.
