Mrs. E. B. Davis Dies
End Came Peacefully Sunday Evening After Two years' Illness.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Davis, wife of E. B. Davis died at their home, 211 West Walnut, at 6:30 o'clock Sunday evening August 5, 1934, aged 84 years and 8 days. Mrs. Davis was stricken with paraplysis on May 28, two years ago,and had been a helpless invalid ever since. Loving care has been given her by her husband, their daughter Mrs. Inez Owens, and Mrs. Davis' nephew, Harry Hamilton of Parsons, but she gradually wasted away, and last evening she just went to sleep.
Funeral Services will be held from the home at 10:00 o'clock tomorrow-Tuesday-morning, conducted by Rev E. E. Beauchamp, pastor of the Methodist church of this city. Interment will b e in the Columbus City cemetery by Jones Ruhland. Pall bearers will be her sons and sons-in-law and her nephew Harry Hamilton.
Elizabeth Ann Sparks was born in Sherman, Chautuaqua County, New York, on July 28, 1850 and lived their until she married on Spetember 6, 1871, to Edgar Bryant Davis with whom she had be schoolmates fro years. They moved to Venango county, Pennsylvannia, where they resided for five years then moved to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, where they resided until 1880, settling then on the farm south of Columbus, in the Potter district. After twenty-three years residence there they came to this city, and have resided in their present homr for thirty-one years.
To Mr. and Mrs. Davis nine children were born, who are: Leon Cullen Bryant Davis of this city: Mrs. Lottie Clark of Los Angeles of Los Angeles, Calif., George Earl Davis of Sumner, Wash., Dr. Fred S. Davis of this city, Mrs. Lena Belle Palmer adn Dell D. Davis of Sumner, Wash., Nrs. Marion Gray of Coffeyville, archie B. Davis of Sumner, Wash., and Mrs. Inez Owens in the home. All of the children are living, together with 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. This is the first death in the family. Mrs. Davis comes from a long-lived family-her grandparents having lacked only 100 days of celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary-75 years. On September 6, Mr. and Mrs. Davis would have been married for 63 years.
Mrs. Davis joined the United Brethern church while they lived on the farm, but on moving to Columbus she placed her membership with her husband in the methodist Episcopal church, and has been a faithful member ever since.
Besides her husband and nive children Mrs. Davis is survived by one sister Mrs. Belle Reeves of Pueblo, Colo., the nephew Harry hamilton, and his sister, Mrs. Chas. Workman of Parsons.
The Advocate with their many friends extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Aged Resident Laid To Rest After Long Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. E. B. Davis, 84 who died at her home in this city at 6:30 Sunday evening, were held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev E. E. Beauchamp, pastor of the Methodist Church.
The friends who same were Mrs. Marie Hannigan and Miss Hazel Furness and one song used- "Beulah Land"- was Mrs. Davis favorite hymn. The pallbearers were two of her sons, L. C and F. S. Davis, one grandson, Art Doty, and one nephew, Harry Hamilton.
Interment was made in the City cemetery by Jones-Ruhland.
The lovely flowers were taken after the funeral, in accordance with he expressed desire to the hospital to cheer the sick ones there.
Out of town relatives who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs.Ralph Coons and Mrs. Chas Workman and little daughter, Queen, of Parsons.

E. B. Davis Succumbs at age of 98
Longtime Columbus resident had been ill for several years
E. B. Davis, 98 resident of this district, and one of the oldest residents died early Friday morning at his home here. He had been in failing health a number of years.
Born Aug. 21, 1850 in New York state. He worked in the Pennsylvania oil fields until 1880 when he moved to Kansas to become a farmer. His first farm was located five miles south of Columbus where he and his wife lived until 1903, when they moved to Columbus and began renting their farm. Mr. Davis then became a fertilizer dealer in this district, being the first man in the county to ever use phosphorus fertilizer. He sold his fertilizer business and warehouse to the Farmers Union in 1927. Mrs. Davis died in 1934.
Surviving are four sons, Dr. Fred Davis, Columbus, Earl and Archie Davis both of Sumner, Wash., and Leon Davis of the home: three daughters, Mrs. Lena Palmer, Orting, Wash., Mrs. Ella Gray, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Inez Stover, Parsons and 28 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held art 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Ruhland chapel here. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
