On 1891 Census he was a 59 year old lodger with William and Ellen Conley at Lympne, Hythe and a farm labourer born in Burmarsh. On the 1901 Census he was a 69 year old shepherd living in Hythe, born in Burmarsh. He died in 1908 of 'morbus cordis syncope', aged 76, a shepherd in West Hythe. The death was registered by his son George of West Hill Farm, Hythe.
