- In 1886, his father, William, bought 200 acres of land in Vespra Tp, Simco Co., near Minesing Village for his three sons, George, Thomas and John. The description of the land was Lot 2, Concession 10, Vespra Tp. Simco County, Ontario, Canada, near Minesing village. They moved there and immediately began to make improvements on the land. His wife's uncle, James Foster was married to George's aunt, Mary Kerfoot. The wedding dinner was eaten at a table in Annie Foster's home which her parents had got when the were married in 1840 and which was a prized possession in 1953 of their daughter, Edith Irene Masson.
George Kerfoot and his wife lived on their Minesing farm until the spring of 1882, when with the four little girls, they moved to Manitoba and took up land first iin the Snowflake district and later at Aberdeen where his family of seven grew up. A friendly man he was able to "raise a tune" at the little church services that were always held in country schools in those days. In 1953 several of his descendents were still living in the district.

- She was unmarried. She was 16 years of age when her widowed father moved westward to Warwick Tp., Lambton Co., Ontario, Canada and took up land there. A year or two afterward she moved to the nearby village of Watford where she learned the trade of dressmaking. When her father sold his farm in the fall of 1882, and retired to Watford with his two sons, she kept house for them again. After his death in April 1883 she and the two boys moved to Detriot, Michigan, U.S.A. where she still kept house for them. After Richard's marriage in 1891, she trained as a Deaconess in the Deaconess Home and Training School where she servd for the remained of her working life. She spent her summers at the farm home of Eliza and John Morris. She spent her last days at a Rest Home for Missionaries and Deaconesses at Ocean Grove, New Jersey, U.S.A.

- From another researcher: Her mother died when she was a child. The following anecdote illustrates her childhood in the middle of the last century as well as the bonds that developed between her and her sister Eliza. There was not enough room at the table for everyone to sit down at once and the three girls had to take turns eating. Deborah who was older persuaded the two younger girls that it would be the same if they waited and let Deborah go first everytime. Then the two yonger girls who were close could eat together. When Deborah went to Watford to learn dressmaking. Lydia and Eliza had to do all the housework including making all the meals. This continued until Lydia was married. When she died at an early age she left a husband and three small children.

On 25 Dec 1882 when Eliza H was 24, she married John M MORRIS. John M died on 30 Sep 1936. Buried abt 1936 in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, Ontario, Canada.

- John M.Morris was a school teacher at Charing Cross, Ontario when he married Eliza Kerfoot on December 25, 1882. After his wife's death in 1929 he gathered the material for this family tree. In the days before email and affordable long distance telephone service it was exhausting, time-consuming work requiring enormous patience and perserverance. He died without completing it. His daughter Winifred Mair (No. 193) completed the work and published the book 'The Kerfoot Family History' in 1953. This Shillington-Kerfoot Family Tree is largely composed from the information contained in that book.

Alice was a Canadian who had been born at London, Ontario. They made their home in Miami, which by that time was undergong rapid expansion. He mde his living building houses during the expansion. In 1904 he took a homestead in the town of Princeton, 25 miles north of Miami. In his seventies he build a house for a daughter and remodelled one for another. He was fond of singing hymns and playing the violin. He spent his last years quietly at home tending his trees and plants.
