- 1893 obituary published in the Summerside journal, May 3, 1893, page 3 column #1:
“Death has removed another prominent and familiar figure from our midst, in the person of Mr. Benjamin S. Mills, who died on Sunday last, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. James Auld, Summerside. Mr. Mills was very highly esteemed in the community, where he was held in great respect, and his death is sincerely regretted. He was born in the County of Suffolk, England, in 1815, and came to this country in 1831, landing at Princetown. His brother William was here at the time, and he followed farming with him for awhile. He also traded in cattle, farm produce, etc., between Summerside and Miramichi. He afterwards built a mill at Rose Hill Farm, Lot 16. He then went to Chicago, and was there for some time during the early settlement of that place, after which he went west, crossing the prairie. Not caring much for the west, he returned and settled in Ontario, where he went into the milling business, being one of the firm of Mills & Holden. Later he came back to the Isalnd, and in 1849, married Virginia Frances, eldest daughter of the late Major Compton, St. Eleanors. Ater this he continued the milling business in Ontario for about five years, at the end which time, on account of ill health, he returned to the Island, locating at St. Eleanors, where he followed farming for a number of years. He then built a steam grist mill - the first in Prince County, if not on the Island - in Summerside but owing to ill health, he disposed of it, and resided here during the remainder of his life. Mr. Mills was Road Supervisor for Lot 19 during the Sullivan Administration and discharged the duties of this position in a most efficient and satisfactory manner. He was a member of King Hiram Lodge, A.F. & A.M. His funeral took place at 2 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, with Masonic honours, to the cemetery of St. John’s Church, St. Eleanors, Rev. Thos. Lloyd of Kensington officiating. The pall bearers were Messrs. D. Rogers, M.P.P,, W, I Hunt, Jas Reilly, D. Montgomery, John Clay and C.B. Saunders. He leaves two sons, Holden C Mills, Summerside, and Hubert Mills, St Eleanors, and one daughter, Mrs. James Ault, Summerside.”
- DEATH: age 78
- Benjamin died at the home of his son-in-law.
- BURIAL: Thomas Lloyd

- according to wikipedia, Princetown was supposed to be the shire town for Prince County PEI, located in part of the Prince Royalty. “The township is located on a peninsula extending into Malpeque Bay from adjacent Lot 18.” But Prince Royalty was largely unused as a shire town. Princetown became a village on 2 Dec 1901 but downgraded its status to settlement in 1925, and became known as Malpeque in the mid 1940s.
