RESEARCH NOTES:
- middle name listed as both Mary and May
- 1901 census - can’t find Maud in census, although Thos J and Victor S are living with Ellen Thomas (Victor’s grandmother). Census film says Thos was married in 1901 (rather than widowed), so where is his wife Maud? Can’t find a death registration for her 1897-1901. Visiting elsewhere? In the hospital?
- Another researcher reports: “I'm told that my grandfather Victor Stanley Thomas's mother Maud Mary Andrews left (for London?) when Victor was a child; he lived with relatives of his mother in Corporation Road, Newport, and [in] 1901 aged 3 (with father) and 1911 aged 13 (with Maud Mary's mother Elizabeth).
- My comments in reply: It’s too bad that Maud had such a short involvement with your family.  It looks like the marriage was somewhat forced based on an accidental pregnancy rather than true love, and they couldn't make a go of it.  This would certainly have affected young Victor's view on life and his upbringing, not to mention his choice of wife (which you note was frowned upon by his extended family).
- this note must be for someone else: - unmarried Bookbinder living 1963 with brother Tom 40 Aston Crescent Newport
